I have been working with sitcom and comedy drama scripts for over a decade. My aim is to help you to make your script commercial.
This site is for the novice, semi-professional and professional writer of Sitcom, Comedy drama, features and comedy in general. If you are not sure in which format you are writing, please consult the FAQ page. I offer a script and corporate consultancy service at reasonable rates and have been a script reader for many years for the BBC, several Independent Production companies and other clients worldwide.
The needs of broadcasters and commissioning editors do change, but I always try to keep abreast of current market requirements. You should be watching ‘Crashing’ C4, ‘Siblings’ (BBC3) and other current examples of the genre.
I have written several books available on the nuts and bolts of Sitcom, sketch and general comedy writing (see books) as well as my own comic novels and comedy books. “Writing the Comedy Movie” (Bloomsbury) is available now.
I am available to read Manuscripts and for for one on one tutoring. Contact me here.
I take a practical and mechanical approach to writing. A producer or commissioning editor does not want to see bad syntax, spelling or a lack of awareness of the form or market. Comedy writing demands a complex skill set and if you have a flair for it then I can help guide you towards producing work that will be read.
Writing is re-writing and perseverance is all.
